We are currently only focused on one volunteer project.  This is at Baan Dada, a home for orphaned children in Huay Ma Lai, Thailand.  This is near Sangklaburi, Thailand which is located 300 kilometers northwest of Bangkok.  It is about a 5-7 hour bus ride to Sangklaburi from Bangkok.  It is a very remote area with very limited western conveniences.  However, with proper preparations it is a place that will surely touch your heart.  There are currently 57 children at Baan Dada who range in age from 1 to 18 years.  The children are a mix of Mon, Karen, Burmese and Thai.  Our experience is, a kid; is a kid!  You can visit www.baandada.org or if you are a “myspace.com” member search email address ccummins1979@gmail.com.  Both of these sites will give you more valuable insight into the project.

We work with the orphanage to provide all volunteers with projects that will best fit their skills. Below is a list of some of the projects that you can volunteer to assist with.

English Teaching: Teaching is available both at the orphanage and at the Saha Christian School that most of the young children attend. The Saha Christian School is 2 miles from the orphanage.

Construction & Building Projects: There are always building projects in progress at the orphanage. They consist of making mud bricks, electical repairs, light fixture replacement, laying bricks, painting and many oher tasks.

Music Teaching: If you know how to play any instrument you can certainly share your talents with the children.

Driving: The children need driven to school each weekday. The leave at 7:15am and need to be picked up at 4:00pm.

Fundraising: This is a project that is completely up to the individual volunteer. We can assist with implementing any ideas to help with fundraising projects.

The Children: Have fun with the children is probably the most rewarding task one can take away from the orphanage.

Hospital Work: Any nurse or doctor interested in spending days volunteering at a hospital can do so. Please inform us of what you would like to do and we will contact the Hospital for placement. The hospital is 2 miles from the orphanage and they will accept voluntteers for any specified hours during your stay.
